On Friday 16th December 2022, we celebrated the wonderful GCSE successes of our current Year 13 students. We welcomed our successful past pupil and Head Boy, Mr Conor Anderson in to talk to the students, and he delivered a most inspirational speech to them, based very much on the values learned from a Loreto education.
Our morning paid testimony to our young people, who excelled in their KS4 studies, enabling them all to pursue further advanced study at KS5 level. The morning also gave us the opportunity to formally congratulate our new Year 13 students, who transferred from other schools to complete their AS levels, on their successes and their smooth transition into Loreto.
Our Award Ceremony acknowledged those who achieved top academic performances in their GCSE examinations. Students were selected by their form teachers for awards in Diligence and for showing Leadership and Cooperation. The Principal's award was presented by Mr Gallagher for outstanding achievement at GCSE level. Special awards were presented to Niamh, who excelled in completing her A Level Irish during GCSE years, and for outstanding contribution to our traditional group - Tigh Tara. Our Loreto Ethos award was presented to Caitlyn, who has always freely chosen to uphold our core values in all aspects of school life – Freedom, Joy, Justice, Sincerity, Truth.
Following our award ceremony, all Year 13 were provided with treats in the Canteen, facilitated by our Canteen staff and Year 14 senior prefects. This rounded off a wonderful morning, to mark excellent successes.
