On Monday 14 April 2025, 11C, accompanied by Vice Principal Mrs McCarry, Mrs Lagan and Mrs Quigg travelled to Corrymeela, Ballycastle. Through meeting the volunteers there – Iulia, Seohyun, Calvin, Emily and Elizabeth; our year 11s learned how they became volunteers at Corrymeela from all over the world – Romania, South Korea, USA and England. They also learned all about how Corrymeela became a centre promoting unity; how it is built in the shape of the heart and the ear – to emphasise the importance of peaceful dialogue; and that it is used today for group conferences and spiritual retreats. This was such a beneficial day to help the students in understanding the importance of reconciliation, studied in their OCN Level 2 Religious Studies course. 11C enjoyed team building games with the volunteers, and had fun using the resources there, and seeing the amazing scenery. With the beautiful weather, we walked down to the beach, spent time together as a class, and enjoying being outdoors. We would like to thank the staff of Corrymeela for their warm welcome, and the staff at Dollys in Ballycastle, where we all had a lovely meal, before returning to school.
