Year 8 Retreat and the Crowning of Our Lady

On Friday 12th May, all Year 8 pupils took part in their first annual Loreto Retreat. Led by members of the Derry Diocesan Youth Team, the Retreat was a day for the Year 8s to spend time together reflecting on their first year at Loreto College, and getting to know one another even better.

In the afternoon, the Year 8s and their teachers celebrated the feast of Our Lady of Fatima (13th May). Led by Miss Galbraith and the Diocesan Retreat team, the Year 8s took part in a candlelit procession around the Convent Lawn to the Grotto, where prayers including a decade of the Rosary were said and hymns were sung. The statue of Our Lady was crowned with roses, and roses were then placed at her feet by members of each Year 8 form class.

Thank you to Miss Galbraith and the Derry Diocesan Team for a memorable day for our Year 8 pupils: as this year group move towards the challenges of the Summer exams, the day was a valuable opportunity to spend time together, enjoying a range of activities and some moments of reflection and prayer.
