Celebrating Excellence at Junior Prizegiving 2025

On Wednesday 25 June, we held our Junior Prizegiving Ceremony, an event that celebrated the achievements, progress, and character of our Year 8–10 students 2024-2025. The afternoon began with a brilliant performance of Touch the Sky from Brave by the Junior choir setting the tone for a ceremony filled with pride and recognition.

In his speech Mr Gallagher noted the many amazing achievements of our students from year 8 through to year 14. He paid tribute to wonderful generosity and commitment the students had demonstrated throughout the year.

Prizes included Academic Awards honouring students in the top 10% of overall results in their year group, acknowledging their outstanding performance in end-of-year exams. Year 10 students also received their Loreto Junior Certificate, marking their transition into GCSE studies and their graduation from Junior school. Those achieving Distinctions were commended for being in the top 20% of their cohort—a remarkable accomplishment.

Progress Awards were presented to students who demonstrated significant academic improvement throughout the year, while Form Class Awards recognised pupils for their diligence, politeness, and overall contribution to school life. The Form Teacher Awards shared personal reflections from teachers on each recipient’s character and impact within their class.

A highlight of the ceremony was a solo performance by Savannah Armstrong, who sang “A Letter from Charlie Bucket” from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Her talent and enthusiasm was acknowledged as she was also the recipient of the 8C Form Teacher Award.

Departmental Awards celebrated excellence in subjects ranging from English and Maths to Music and Technology.

The ceremony also honoured students for their commitment to school values through awards for uniform presentation, concern for others, and 100% attendance.

In the final segment of the ceremony, Mr Gallagher presented Special Recognition awards. These included:

Award for Outstanding Contribution to Sporting Life of the College at Key Stage 3: Una Moore

Award for Generosity and Commitment: Molly Mae Hanna and Sophie Kelly

Perseverance: Justyna Podraza and Enda McCloskey

Participation in School Life: Oisin McGlone and Ruairi Og Boylan

The Sunshine Award in memory of Niamh McCloskey: Alannah Boyle and Anna Martin

The Kate McSherry Memorial Award for the Loreto Ethos in Junior Years: Orlagh Brennan

The event concluded with heartfelt thanks to staff, students, and volunteers who made the day possible. As a sweet surprise, all students received an ice-cream voucher to enjoy in the canteen—a fitting end to a celebration of hard work and community spirit.

We congratulate all our junior students on their achievements and look forward to seeing them thrive as the take on the challenges of the year ahead.
