The NI and UK ‘Big Bang’ Science and Engineering Competition - 2017/18

In June 2017, two groups of students were winners at the NI ‘Big Bang’ Science and Engineering Competition which was held in the University of ulster at JORDANSTOWN.

· Sian Donaghy and Donal Close in the Intermediate section with their project entitled ‘Phonebook Physics’.

· Sian and Donal won the Queen’s University prize for maths and physics and were one of the top ten projects in NI who qualified for the UK final to be held in the NEC Birmingham in March 2018.

· They also then went on to become runners up in this section in the UK final in Birmingham.



· Fearghal Close, Dominic Bradley and Sean Doherty in the Senior with their project entitled ‘Crumple Zone’.

Their project was also one of the top ten projects in NI and qualified for the UK final to be held in the NEC, Birmingham in March 2018.
