Celebrating Excellence at Loreto College Senior Prizegiving Ceremony 2026
Loreto College was delighted to welcome students, families, staff and invited guests to our annual Senior Prizegiving Ceremony, an uplifting occasion celebrating the achievements and successes of our senior students throughout the past year.
The ceremony showcased the wide range of talents, achievements and qualities demonstrated by our students. Awards recognised academic excellence and progress, personal development, positive relationships, individual subject achievements and valuable contributions to the wider life of the College. Each prize reflected the commitment, dedication and hard work shown by the recipients.
Principal Mr Gallagher acknowledged the important contribution made by every member of the Loreto community. He praised our students for their commitment and perseverance and thanked teachers and all members of staff for the dedication they show in supporting, encouraging and inspiring the young people in their care. He also expressed his appreciation to parents and families for their continued encouragement and partnership throughout the school year.
The presentation of prizes was a particularly special part of the ceremony, as students received recognition for their hard work, commitment and achievements. It was a proud moment for the entire College community and an opportunity to celebrate not only each student’s success, but also the effort and determination behind every award.
Among the highlights of the evening were the College’s Special Awards, including the Principal’s Awards for Top Performance at GCSE and A Level. At A Level, awards were presented to Dubhla Mullan, who achieved four A* grades, and Dzuljeta Ozolina, who achieved three A* grades. At GCSE, the award was presented to Shea Mullan, who achieved nine A* grades.
The Loreto Ethos Awards recognise students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in promoting the College’s vision of ‘Spirituality and Excellence’. The GCSE Loreto Ethos Award was presented to Aoife Mullan, while the A Level Loreto Ethos Award was presented to Dubhla Mullan.
The ceremony also provided an opportunity to recognise the exceptional commitment and leadership of the Heads of School for 2025–2026: Deputy Head Boy Joe McLaughlin, Deputy Head Girl Anna Donaghy, Head Boy Cahir Boorman and Head Girl Tess Mullan. We are extremely grateful for the valuable contribution they have made to the life of the College.
A special highlight of the Senior Prizegiving was an address by guest speaker Maria Dougan, Coroner for Northern Ireland and a past pupil of Loreto College.
Maria spoke warmly about her own journey, sharing her experiences of academic success and reflecting on the determination and hard work that helped her to achieve her ambitions.
Drawing on her career experiences, she highlighted the importance of recognising and embracing opportunities. Her inspiring message encouraged students to work hard, remain open to new experiences and make the most of every opportunity presented to them.
It was particularly meaningful to welcome Maria back to Loreto. She reflected with great affection and happiness on her time as a pupil and shared some of the experiences that have shaped her personal and professional journey. Her return added a very special dimension to the evening, and we were delighted to have her share her memories, insights and advice with our students and guests.
The Senior Prizegiving Ceremony was a wonderful celebration of achievement, aspiration and the strong sense of community at Loreto College. We congratulate all prize recipients and thank the families, staff and guests who joined us for this special occasion.
We look forward with optimism to another year of learning, growth, achievement and opportunity.
