This week marked the Year 14 class of 2024 leaving Loreto College. After a week of festivities, including their pyjama day, dress in your future career day, and bring anything but your school bag to school day, the students had fun and games on the Convent Lawn, with a bouncy castle and water slide. They then gathered as a year group in the canteen for treats and to reflect on their time at Loreto, with speeches from their Head of Year Mrs Marron and our Careers Advisor and Sixth Form Supervisor, Mrs West. Having watched a video of their memories of their time in Loreto, edited by Alicia Doherty, the year 14s left the College, to a rapturous applause from all our year 8s who were lined up along the corridors, to bid them farewell. We invited the parents and guardians of our year 14, to gather in the assembly hall in the evening with the students and staff, for their special Leavers Mass, celebrated by Fr McCaughan. The theme of our Mass was ‘Be Not Afraid’, a fitting title as they are all about to embark on new adventures. It was a truly memorable occasion, made all the more special, with the efforts of the students who read, took part in the offertory processions and our wonderful musicians. We wish our year 14s God’s blessing and every success in fulfilling their dreams, as they take the next steps of their very promising futures. Always remember the words of your Loreto Prayer: “there are many paths that we could take; help each of us to choose the one that is right”. Enjoy this snapshot of your Leaver’s Day!
